Money Exchange License
For the business of money exchange, a Exchange License is required and must be applied immediately the said license. Each year, there are 4 periods of application, which are March, June, September, and December. It takes the officer about 3 months to approve.
Conditions and Requirements
For companies with 100% Thai shareholders:
- Fully paid up to 1 million Baht capital (minimum).
- Thai shareholders and directors must be of Thai nationality and be individuals.
For companies with partial foreign shareholders or the director is a foreigner:
- Fully paid up to 10 million Baht capital (minimum).
- The company must have an existing TAT or Hotel License.
- The shareholders and directors must be individuals.
Other Requirements
- A floor plan, location (map), and photos for the money exchange store.
- For shareholders who own more than 10% of the company, a background check must be done. There mustn’t be any records of bankruptcy.
- The company must be registered before the application.
- After the license is approved, the Bank of Thailand requires every money exchange company to send their monthly reports.
